Welcome to the website of the Department of Political Science! Our department offers undergraduate and graduate coursework in American politics, comparative politics, international relations, methodology, political theory, public administration, public law, public policy, and race and ethnic politics.
The Department of Political Science is one of the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, with approximately 1000 undergraduate majors, more than 50 graduate students, and a faculty of 34 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. Faculty participate in college-level interdisciplinary programs, including Women’s and Gender Studies and International Studies.
Currently, the department provides editorial homes for Political Science Research and Methods and Presidential Studies Quarterly. In recent years the Department has also served as the editorial home for the American Journal of Political Science, The Journal of Politics, and the Journal of Theoretical Politics.
