Dr. Jason M. Smith is a lecturer in the Political Science Department at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in May 2009. He received a bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Texas.
His research focuses on European political parties and party systems, European Union politics, European integration, civil and ethnic conflict, democratic transitions, and the intersection of domestic politics and international relations. His teaching interests further include introductory courses in comparative politics, international relations, American government, and methods.

Dr. Smith has recently published in International Studies Quarterly and has a forthcoming article in Comparative Political Studies. He has conducted field research interviewing political party officials in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway.
